This IDC study provides an analysis of ERM applications spending in 2007-2012, with the aim of mapping growth opportunities across the major Western European industry sectors, with a focus on the top 5 Western European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The study covers the following 11 vertical markets: discrete manufacturing; process manufacturing; retail/wholesale; transport; communications; utilities; financial services; business services; government; healthcare and education; and other. "The Western European market for packaged ERM applications grew well over the past two years, but the onset of the global recession started to slow down investments at the end of last summer," said Serena Da Rold, program manager, European Vertical Views. "The sectors that will prove more resilient in the short term are healthcare, utilities, government, communications, and some segments of business services, while financial services, retail/wholesale, and 'other' will be hit the hardest by the downturn."
